Take Your Kid to Work Day: Celebrating Future Leaders and Makers
At R. Riveter, we believe in the power of connection, craftsmanship, and community — and that starts right at home. Take Your Kid to Work Day is on April 24th, 2025, and is more than just a fun excuse to bring your little ones along to the office or workshop. It’s an opportunity to inspire, empower, and show them the incredible possibilities that come with hard work, creativity, and heart.
Why It Matters to Us
R. Riveter was founded by two military spouses with a dream — to create flexible, meaningful employment for women on the move. Today, our network of talented makers (or “Riveters”) is made up of hardworking moms, military spouses, and fierce entrepreneurs who balance work and family every single day. Many of us work from home studios, remote offices, or small-town workshops — proving that work doesn’t have to fit a traditional mold.
Take Your Kid to Work Day is a perfect reflection of this. It’s a chance for our children to see the passion behind what we do, to learn the value of independence, and to witness the beauty of a business built on heart, hustle, and handmade goods.
How We Celebrate
Whether it’s watching a parent sew a Hobby bag, helping pack orders, or joining a virtual team meeting, kids get a front-row seat to what makes R. Riveter so special. Some of our Riveters even invite their little ones to pick fabric swatches or help sketch bag designs (future fashion icons in the making!). It’s about showing them that their big dreams are possible too — and that women, especially military spouses and moms, are capable of incredible things.
Ideas to Get Involved
If you’re celebrating Take Your Kid to Work Day this year — whether you work from home, on base, in a workshop, or in an office — here are a few fun, meaningful ways to include your kids:
-
Give a Tour: Show them your workspace and explain what you do.
-
Hands-On Activities: Let them help with simple, safe tasks — packing, organizing, designing, or brainstorming ideas.
-
Share Your Story: Talk about your career journey, your challenges, and what you love about your work.
-
Encourage Their Ideas: Ask them what kind of business they’d love to start someday or what job they’d want to try.
-
Craft Something Together: Whether it’s a mini project, a card, or a simple craft, create something side by side.
The Future is Bright
At R. Riveter, we’re not just building beautiful bags — we’re building a legacy of resilience, creativity, and courage. By bringing our kids into our work world, even for a day, we’re planting the seeds of confidence and showing them that their ideas, voices, and futures matter.
So here’s to April 24th, to the next generation of leaders, makers, and changemakers — and to every hardworking parent showing them the way.
Happy Take Your Kid to Work Day!
