Frequently asked questions
How long does my Heirloom order take?
Once your materials arrive at our Florida workshop, your Heirloom order will be handcrafted in approximately 6–8 weeks.
Can I make changes or cancel my order?
Because every Heirloom piece is made specifically from your materials, orders cannot be changed or canceled once your materials have been received by our team. Materials are considered received on the date your shipment is marked as delivered.
Can I use discounts on my Heirloom order?
Due to the highly customized, handcrafted nature of the Heirloom Collection, discounts and promotional codes cannot be applied.
Can I return my Heirloom handbag?
Because every Heirloom piece is custom made from your personal materials, all Heirloom orders are final sale and are not eligible for return or refund.
What materials can be used?
While military uniforms are our specialty, we can work with many different textiles as long as they are suitable for construction.
Popular materials include:
- Military dress uniforms
- Flight suits
- Trench coats
- Wool blankets
- Duffel bags
- First responder uniforms
- Pilot and flight attendant uniforms
- Other meaningful textiles
If you're unsure whether your material will work, our team is happy to help.
Is the Heirloom Program only for military families?
Not at all. The Heirloom Program is open to everyone.
We create Heirloom pieces from military uniforms, first responder uniforms, airline uniforms, blankets, and many other meaningful textiles. Whether your story comes from military service or another important chapter in your life, we'd be honored to preserve it.
How should I prepare my materials?
Before shipping your materials:
- Have all materials professionally cleaned or dry cleaned.
- Remove any name tapes, ribbons, patches, insignia, or other items you wish to keep.
- Leave buttons attached if you'd like them incorporated into your design whenever possible.
Please note that materials that are dirty, heavily damaged, or deteriorated may not be suitable for production.
How much material do I need for my Heirloom product?
Yes—to a degree.
During the design process, you'll choose the overall look you'd like for your Heirloom piece.
Minimal
If you prefer a more classic handbag, we'll create a clean design using the main material while minimizing original uniform details such as pockets, patches, buttons, and name tapes.
Character
A design that celebrates the history of your material by incorporating original details such as pockets, seams, patches, buttons, and other distinctive features whenever possible.
Every piece of material is unique, so while we'll honor your design preference, exact placement of original features cannot be guaranteed. Our team thoughtfully designs each Heirloom piece based on the condition of your material, its natural characteristics, and long-term durability to create a bag that's both beautiful and made to last.
Can you incorporate my patches, name tapes, buttons, or insignia?
Yes. If you'd like original patches, name tapes, buttons, rank, or other meaningful details from your materials incorporated into your Heirloom piece, simply let us know during the design process.
Our team will make every effort to honor your preferences while creating a bag that is both beautiful and durable. Final placement may vary depending on the bag style, available material, and construction requirements.
If there are any patches, buttons, insignia, or other items you would like returned instead of incorporated into your bag, please remove them before sending your materials.
What happens to my remaining materials?
Our team thoughtfully uses as much of your material as possible to create your Heirloom products while preserving the quality and integrity of each piece.
If you'd like any usable remaining material returned, simply select Return Remaining Materials during checkout. A processing and shipping fee will apply for the additional sorting, packaging, and return of your materials.
If this option is not selected, any remaining material will be responsibly recycled or discarded once your order is complete.
If you're planning to create more than one Heirloom piece from your materials, we recommend ordering them together so our team can maximize every usable section of your material.
Please note: Remaining materials include usable fabric remnants only. Small offcuts, scraps created during production, and unusable pieces will not be returned.
