Carrying Stories: How R. Riveter Heirloom Bags Honor the Past and Empower the Future

At R. Riveter, we believe that every bag carries more than your everyday essentials—it carries a story. Through our Heirloom program, we transform meaningful materials into one-of-a-kind handbags, allowing our customers to carry memories, legacies, and love on their shoulders.

We’re honored to share a few of these extraordinary Heirloom stories, each stitched with purpose and pride.

A Father's Military Uniform, Reimagined

When I was 20 years old, I lost my dad unexpectedly. Of a few things he kept over the [years,] one was his Army uniform when he joined at the age of 18, he had kept it for over 40 years. I was never sure what to do with it but could never part with it. One day I saw a story about your company and what it did with the uniforms. it took me a while to be OK with parting with my dad‘s uniform, after 27 years but I knew that he'd have been OK with this instead of sitting in the closet I could carry it with me every day in addition to the bag for myself. I also had two smaller pouches made for my two children. [They] never met their grandfather so this was something they could also have [from] him. I cried when the bags came. They were exactly what I had envisioned, and I have carried it ever since. I love that. It was turned into something that I can use and think of him every day Instead of hanging in my closet, that means a lot to me.
