The story behind the tag hung proudly on every R. Riveter bag since 2011.

The tag that started it all
You've seen it. Maybe you noticed it the first time you picked up an R. Riveter bag, or maybe it caught your eye on someone else's arm. That small leather tag, mustard yellow, worn at the edges, stamped with a single word, isn't an accent. It's a statement.
This is the story of the Support Tag. And it's really your story.
Where it started
In 2011, Cameron and I were in an attic trying to figure out what we were building. We knew we wanted to create something real for military spouses — a genuine economic opportunity for women who sacrifice their own careers every time their family receives new orders.
Our first motto was simple: Support the Support.
We wanted every bag to carry something visible. Something that said, without a word: this bag exists because military families matter. That's when the Support Tag was born.
The original tags were large — hand cut like an old postal luggage tag, stamped with the word Support, and dyed a deep mustard yellow.
The color was not an accident.
What the color means
You know the yellow ribbon tied around a tree in a front yard. The one that signals a family member is deployed. The one that says: we are waiting, we are praying, we have not forgotten.
We chose the color yellow becomes after weeks of weather — softened at the edges, still visible. Because it's not the first week of deployment when a military spouse needs your support. It's the weeks and months deep into the tour.

Every Support Tag is still made the same way it was in that attic.
Hand cut. Hand stamped. Hand dyed. By a military spouse.
Stamped into each one is a Riveter Number, a unique number assigned to every person in our community. It's her mark. When you carry an R. Riveter bag, you carry her work, her story, her service to this community.
This is what it looks like when a military spouse puts her number on your bag.
Why this year is different
This Fourth of July, we celebrate 250 years of American freedom.
250 years that did not happen on their own. Behind every year of that freedom is a long, unbroken line of military families — service members who left, spouses who stayed, children who grew up between moves and deployments and homecomings.
We wouldn't have 250 years without them.
Wear yellow too.
