1. Tell Us a little bit about yourself.
I have been married to my husband for 9 years and we have one daughter who is 6 years old. We recently made our final transfer before my husband retires in 1.5 years, which is when he will have reached his 20 years of service mark. I am not only a part time Remote Riveter, but also have a full time position as a Quality Coordinator for a network of physician practices located within the community I live. My faith is very important to me; I enjoy devoting time in service and events with my church and community. My husband being in the Coast Guard, naturally my family loves to spend our free time around the water and doing many activities associated!
2. Why did you join R. Riveter?
I joined R. Riveter as a means to help make the most of the transition periods. I have always struggled with this period; after all is said and done, my husband still has a job and I am left to start from scratch. Opportunity with R. Riveter came along just prior to our most recent transition. R. Riveter helped to fill the gap while being part of an organization which is filled with others in the same boat and with similar patriotic viewpoints.
3. How has being a military spouse affected your journey and your career?
I knew marring my husband would naturally take a toll on my career, my ability to progress and grow in one area. Naturally, I have had to start from the bottom every move we made. However, I have had some very positive experiences and am very fortunate to meet some pretty cool individuals that had a positive impact on my life and vice versa.
4. How has R. Riveter affected your life?
I feel in a time when are society is at odds with each other; R. Riveter has taken a positive spin on how to empower women, individuals; through determination and hard work. Your dreams can come true.
5. What do you love most about what you do?
I love that I can take a few hours to myself and sew. I feel at peace and able to clear my mind and relax.
6. What is one of your most proud moments at R. Riveter?
Other than the feeling of finishing an order and putting it in the mail, I would love to have the moment when I see a purse that someone has bought or in a store that my work is a part of.
