Candles for Good
Cheryl is R.Riveter’s office manager. She’s someone we can always go to and count on her to help us out with any small or large task. (She’s the absolute best). When her and her family received the most terrifying news, we decided we needed to step up and help her the way she is so willing to help us.
In April of 2021, Cheryl and her husband received news from their son’s doctor that changed their world. Their 13-year-old son, David Jr, was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukemia. This would be the start of the aggressive treatment he would receive which required him to spend four to five weeks at Children’s Hospital of Atlanta Eggleston. He would get to come home for a very short two weeks between treatments in which his family and friends would show up and show their support in the form of kind words, yard signs, and more. David Jr has made it halfway through treatment and is expected to be finished by November. With two other young children at home this has not been an easy fight for Cheryl and her husband as they have taken alternating days to spend with David Jr to keep his spirits up and keep him feeling comfortable.
The most beautiful part of this horrendous news has been seeing the way the community has stepped up for this wonderful family. Being a part of the military community means there is an army (no pun intended) standing beside them and rooting for them along the way, all while trying their best to meet any needs. This candle is so special to us because we are donating all proceeds to Cheryl and her family for travel, food, and overnight stay expenses. Please stand with us in support of David Jr.
