1. First, tell us a little bit about yourself.
I was born & raised in Louisville, Kentucky. I went to an all girls catholic high school, Sacred Heart Academy (Go Valkyries 😊), and then onto the University of Kentucky for college. I am very family oriented and close with my family in Kentucky! We love to spend time all together, whether it's at my Uncle's in the country, at our boat at Lake Cumberland, or just sitting around at my parents having game night. Fort Bragg is the first base my husband & I have lived at together and my first bit of Army life.
2. Why did you join R.Riveter?
When my husband & I moved to Fayetteville, I was completely out of my comfort zone. In a new city/state for the first time away from all my family and friends! I tried to find a job as soon as possible so that I could at least have something that was mine and be able to find my place here. It wasn't until after several months living here that I stumbled upon R. Riveter and immediately applied for a position in the retail shop. It felt like my home away from home and these women have quickly become family! I am so grateful for the sense of community and belonging R. Riveter has provided me.
3. How has being a military spouse affected your journey and your career?
Greatly! I have always been driven and ambitious in terms of my career. When I married Steven, I knew I was also marrying the Army which meant giving up the amazing job I had to follow him wherever he may be sent. I have a degree in Marketing & Event Planning and have always worked in those fields since graduating college in 2010. I LOVE working and my career was going great but then he received orders to Fort Bragg, and I unfortunately had to hand in my notice. I tried to apply for Marketing jobs locally but there was no opportunities that seemed to be a fit so I had started to look for different alternatives before finding R. Riveter.
4. How has R.Riveter affected your life?
I cannot imagine life at Fort Bragg without R. Riveter! This company has given me something I thought I would have to forfeit as a Military Wife, and that is a since of purpose and career that I LOVE working with an amazing team that I admire and respect. These people have become my family and for that I am eternally grateful!
5. What do you love most about what you do?
I love when I worked in the retail shop and would share R. Riveter's story of its purpose and then having the customer tell us their story and how they were affiliated with the military. Our Military community is a small but powerful one, so coming in contact with strangers and having them leave as friends after sharing our story is always incredible to me! I have since transitioned to working at home since having my baby girl, who is three months old now, but I LOVE that I was given that opportunity! Most companies would tell you "thank you for your time" but they couldn't keep you on staff, but R. Riveter was willing to work with me so I could still be a contributing member for my family & work for a company I admire and love.
6. What is one of your most proud moments at R.Riveter?
I have pride every day I step in the store and get to share the story and mission of the company, but one moment in particular was when the Follow Up episode of Shark Tank aired. We watched it here with my parents who were visiting but then again the next time I was home with my whole family (since my parents recorded it). I always get emotional hearing Lisa & Cameron share their visions of the company, but to my surprise I looked around at my family all with either tears filled in their eyes or rolling down their cheeks. When the clipped ended my dad hugged me and told me he was so proud of my and the company I worked for...talk about an amazing moment!
7. Favorite part about working at R.Riveter?
The people! From the spouses & family that I work alongside with to the customers that walk in the door, every story is different but we are all bonded with our Military lives.
8. Favorite R.Riveter handbag?
The Otto! Especially my Class A Otto (first purchase 😊).
9. Fun Fact about yourself?
I went to the University of Kentucky, but I am a HUGE Louisville Cardinal Fan (Rival Schools) I was an American Girl Doll model when I was younger (I was Samantha and wore her winter wardrobe in a fashion show) I love cooking & baking (and cocktail creating)
