1. First, tell us a little bit about yourself.
I grew up in rural North Carolina. I earned my associates degree in Business then went on to attend Liberty University Online because I could continue my degree while traveling. My husband and I were married in December 2015 and it's been a wonderful adventure since then. We have a hedgehog named Tot, an Australian Shepherd named Loki, and are expecting a little person in September of 2017!
2. Why did you join R.Riveter?
After a number of years in a retail setting, I decided to make the switch to be able to spend time with my husband and work for a company that's mission matched my own.
3. How has being a military spouse affected your journey and your career?
The uncertainty of not knowing where we will be in a year has been the biggest damper. Sometimes when an employer learns you're a military spouse, advancements sometimes slip by due to fear of the military moving you with little notice or not being able to move for the advancements due to not wanting to have separate households.
4. How has R.Riveter affected your life?
R.Riveter lets me be a part of a mission that is bigger than myself. I am able to have a flexible schedule that allows me to spend time with my husband when he is home.
5. What do you love most about what you do?
While sitting in the "sewing circle," I love being able to listen to fellow spouses who have different experiences in life and can give their honest opinions and guidance, all while sewing and enjoying their work.
9. Fun Fact about yourself?
6. What is one of your most proud moments at R.Riveter?
While working at the riveting table (where straps are assembled) one of my peers commented on my speed and efficiency. No, this was not a parade worthy moment but it meant a lot to me that she noticed my continued improvement and dedication to making the product the best for our customers.
7. Favorite part about working at R.Riveter?
The flexibility that the shop offers and confidence in knowing my resume will continue to grow even as my husband's military career continues.
8. Favorite R.Riveter handbag?
I carry the Hobby as my everyday bag, Patton as my evening bag & I have a Grant waiting to be used as a baby bag. I believe in the products we make.
I applied and was accepted on a mission trip to Uganda while in high school (without my parents knowing, lol.) Once they found out, they agreed to let me go if I could raise the money (they did not think I would be able to.) Of course, I did and spent a month in Uganda in 2012 and would go back right now!
