Meet the Rosie: Jessica S

1. First, tell us a little bit about yourself.
I'm originally from Chapel Hill, NC and I studied fashion merchandising and business marketing at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. After college I spent 3 years in NYC working in product development for Macy's Merchandising Group, followed by a year in London, England. During that time, my husband decided that he'd like to re-join the Army. So between several work and school changes, we have moved a total of 7 times in the last 10 years, but we wouldn't have it any other way as we truly enjoy the adventure of it all.
 
2. Why did you join R.Riveter?
I had been an independent personal trainer for the last few years but when I moved from Fort Hood, TX to Fort Bragg, NC I was forced to start all over and find new clients to train. After several months I came to the conclusion that I wanted a more stable income. I saw that R. Riveter was hiring sales associates and I loved their mission and the product, so I decided to apply. After having worked for several large companies, just the thought of working for a smaller but growing company with a mission I loved was refreshing. 

3. How has being a military spouse affected your journey and your career?
Being a military spouse has certainly made it a challenge to hold down a career. However, this lifestyle has given me the opportunity to reinvent myself several times, and while that is always a challenge, I believe it has made me a stronger and more well-rounded individual.
 
4. How has R.Riveter affected your life?
R. Riveter has not only given me a stable, more predictable job, and a position I love and am proud to hold, but they have also given me an awesome work family who gets the struggle of being a military spouse. I love the team and I always enjoy going to work!
 
5. What do you love most about what you do?
As a member of the marketing team, I have been given the opportunity to get back to my roots in fashion and marketing. I just love developing creative ways to promote our products; products that I love and are made with a soulful mission behind them.
 
6. What is one of your most proud moments at R.Riveter?
Being offered a position on the marketing team has been one of my most proud moments at R. Riveter. It felt really good to know that my hard work and dedication to the company had been noticed. R.Riveter truly believes in helping to grow and empower their employees, and I have seen that firsthand. 
 
7. Favorite part about working at R.Riveter?
I love coming into work every day to collaborate with intelligent and creative women who all truly believe in the mission of R. Riveter. 
 
8. Favorite R.Riveter handbag?
I love the green tent Otto.

9. Fun fact about yourself.
I love old, classic movies and champagne!
