Keep the Spirit Of '45 Alive

In order to truly empower women, America must pay homage to the incredible female heroes who helped pave the way for 21st century working women and military spouses.

R.Riveter — created by military spouses for military spouses — is doing just that through our partnership with the Spirit of ’45, an alliance of organizations and individuals who are working together to preserve and honor the legacy of the men and women of America's Greatest Generation.

During WWII, real life Rosies courageously assumed vital responsibilities – roles which broke barriers at a critical time in our country’s history. However, despite the pivotal role that women played on the Home Front during World War II, today only a handful of physical memorials exist to remind the public their legacy.

The Riveter Memorial Rose Garden campaign is an effort of the Spirit of '45 collaborative to create a "living" memorial in the form of a national network of Rosie the Riveter Memorial Rose Gardens. The goal is to have at least one garden in each Congressional District by 2020, in time for the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII .

In honor of this campaign, R.Riveter created a special edition Rosie the Riveter Otto. Constructed with Cone Denim to represent the well-known Rosie Coveralls, and tied with a telltale red scarf, this special edition Otto honors each Rosie who worked to keep the country moving during WWII. The denim material produced in the 100-year-old White Oak Mill is a nod to American heritage, grit and the entrepreneurial spirit which has revolutionized manufacturing over the last century.

The Otto, R.Riveter’s most popular handbag, was named after one of the original Rosie the Riveter’s, Mrs. Elinor Otto. Mrs. Otto’s legacy of service,  can-do attitude, determination, and toughness is embodied in the Otto handbag, and will live on through the Spirit of ’45 Rosie the Riveter Memorial Rose Gardens.

From the product launch, until Elinor’s 99th birthday on October 28, 2018, R.Riveter will be offering customers 10% off the Special Edition “Rosie the Riveter” Otto throughout the duration of the campaign, and will also be donating $10 for each Special Edition Otto purchase to the Spirit of '45’s Rosie the Riveter Memorial Rose Garden Campaign to ensure the legacy of all the dedicated Rosies lives on for generations to come.

Today, Rosie the Riveter has inspired a movement which continues to redefine the role of empowered, modern-day women.

As a company founded by women, we owe it to those who came before us, and those who will come after, to continue acting as positive agents of change.

Together, we can continue to build each other up.

I can do it.

You can do it.

We can do it.
