Interview with our Co-Founders | Women's History Month

In honor of National Women's History Month here is a fun quick interview we did with our Co-Founders Lisa and Cameron. We encourage you to join in on the fun and participate by asking yourself the same questions! Feel free to share them with us on our social media.

INTERVIEW WITH CAMERON

Which women in history inspires you the most or feels the most relatable?:

I aspire to embody Dr. Jemison's fearlessness and determination. She fearlessly pursued her dreams, shattered glass ceilings, and showed the world that the sky is not the limit. I aim to emulate her unapologetic confidence and unyielding drive in everything I do.

In what ways do you desire to be more like her? What qualities did she possess that you want to strive for?:

Dr. Jemison possessed a unique blend of intelligence, resilience, and innovation. She fearlessly pursued her passions, embraced her individuality, and never allowed obstacles to deter her. I want to cultivate these qualities within myself, striving to push boundaries, think outside the box, and make a lasting impact on the world around me.

Give us your best 1800’s-1940’s name for yourself:

If I were transported back to the 1800s-1940s, I think a name like "Eleanor Grace" would suit me. It exudes sophistication and strength, fitting for a woman making her mark in a male-dominated world.

So many of the women we have named our bags after have served in the military or in predominantly male jobs. Can you imagine being her? What would that feel like? What thoughts come to mind:

Walking in Dr. Jemison's shoes would feel empowering yet challenging. To be the first woman of color in space, facing immense scrutiny and pressure, would be both exhilarating and daunting. But I imagine it would also be incredibly rewarding, knowing that you're not just representing yourself but paving the way for future generations of women and people of color in STEM fields.

Sum up the 19 women with one word:

Resilience. Each of these remarkable women demonstrated unparalleled resilience in the face of adversity, forging paths where none existed before and leaving a legacy that continues to inspire us today.

INTERVIEW WITH LISA

Which women in history inspires you the most or feels the most relatable?

Mattie! She was an inventor and a male stole her idea and said it was his. She took him to court and won! That is my gal!

In what ways do you desire to be more like her? What qualities did she possess that you want to strive for?

Mattie was a woman who pressed in when things get tough and that inspires me. Natural I avoid conflict and she shows us that some tough things are worth going through and leaning into.

Give us your best 1800’s-1940’s name for yourself:
Agnes. That was my grandmothers name and the church I was married in.
