The Whittle is inspired by Mrs. Reba Whittle, a strong, compassionate, and courageous woman who was the first and only American military female prisoner of war during World War II. As a flight nurse in the Army Nurse Corps, the C-47 medical evacuation plane she was on was shot down over enemy territory, where she was held in enemy captivity for four months. Whittle was released in January of 1945. Later that year, she was awarded the Purple Heart, the Air Medal, and a promotion to the rank of first lieutenant. The Whittle handbag represents an incredible woman who was brave, confident, and resilient. Wearing the Whittle should inspire strength in all who carry it.
Maintenance of R. Riveter Leather:
We love using real veg tanned leather in our handbags because they just better with age. If you happen to get scratches or water marks, you can usually get the bag looking new again with just a little maintenance.

Canvas Care Suggestions:
When spot cleaning the canvas, we suggest using a brush or sponge with water only to wipe it off soiled area. We do not recommend using anything other than water as it could discolor canvas material.
