Which scarf will YOU wear? This year's Makers Series Otto comes with BOTH the yellow and orange scarf to pair with it.
Each scarf represents a set of words we hope you will take on and grow in. Yellow represents “peaceful, graceful, optimistic, and understanding” while the orange represents “powerful, brave, strong, and tactical.” You get to decide which scarf you wear and which words to take on each day.
Our Makers Series collection started as a way to highlight and celebrate women who are thinking out of the box and working with other mediums. We love expanding our community and allowing other makers to shine in the spotlight. We hope you love these one-of-a-kind collections as much as we do.
Meet 2021's Maker:
Steph—a print designer and illustrator based in rural Somerset, United Kingdom and the creative behind these prints. Her inspiration behind these scarves comes from vintage fashion and upholstery dating as far back as the 1600s. This pattern reminds her of berries and oak leaves which she felt paired well with the fern design and challenges the wearer to slow down and appreciate the details in life. Become an art collector (or add to your collection) when you purchase this bag. Not to mention it will be 1 of 120 in existence on Earth. We think that’s ultra-special.
The Otto is arguably R.Riveter’s most popular and iconic handbag. With an adjustable crossbody strap and functional handles, the Otto is an incredible bag for any occasion. Wear it on your shoulder with a shortened strap, carry it by the handles, or sling it across your body as a hands-free crossbody bag.
Each R.Riveter handbag takes a journey across the country before arriving at your doorstep. Components are crafted by independent military spouses in their homes around the nation, and shipped to R.Riveter's FabShop to be assembled into a one-of-a-kind product.
Inspiration Behind the Name
The Otto was named after one of the original Rosie the Riveter’s, Mrs. Elinor Otto. When WWII began and men were pulled away from their jobs to serve their country, Mrs. Otto was one of the nearly 6 million women who went to work to keep the country moving forward. She worked until 2014 when she was laid off when the BOEING Plant shut down operations. She was responsible for working on every single C-17 plane that went through that plant.
The Otto is a special handbag. Not only does it pay homage to an incredible woman who helped pave the way for 21st century working women, it also empowers military spouses today. Each part and piece of the Otto is handcrafted by military spouses across the country, allowing them to earn flexible, mobile income in a transient life with their soldier.
Maintenance of R. Riveter Leather:
We love using real veg tanned leather in our handbags because they just better with age. If you happen to get scratches or water marks, you can usually get the bag looking new again with just a little maintenance.

Canvas Care Suggestions:
When spot cleaning the canvas, we suggest using a brush or sponge with water only to wipe it off soiled area. We do not recommend using anything other than water as it could discolor canvas material.
