Once we receive your material prep kit at our facility, it will take 6 weeks to process and complete your order.

This bag is not limited to Military materials.

The outside shell will be made from your Heirloom materials. All liners will be our classic black and white stripe with a special edition Heirloom label. For the leather portion of your handbag you will have the option of black or brown leather used in our signature handbags.

Please remove all name tapes, ribbons or insignia that you do not wish to be on the handbag. We recommend that you keep all buttons on the uniform if you would like to incorporate them in the final product.  

Please make sure materials are properly cleaned before sending off your Heirloom prep kit. We suggest sending in your materials for dry cleaning. We will not be able to accept soiled or torn material. 

Our design process will help you navigate how many items you can get out of each material. After checking out – you have until we receive the Material Prep kit to make changes or cancel your order. Please keep in mind that if you choose to cancel there is a non-refundable Material Prep kit charge of $15

Based on the material you will be able to choose from our classic handbag and accessory styles. There will also be bundles available if you are looking to have multiple pieces made from each material where size allows.  

Our team is committed to making sure your Heirloom bag is the highest quality. We have been upcycling and curating pieces like this one for many years and have learned where each type of textile and material perform the best as we create your bag to function and serve you for years to come.

The Design survey is built into the heirloom portal in an effort to understand what you love about the material and your style preferences so that we can design and build you one of the most special bags you’ve ever had!  

After the production of your bag you have the choice to designate whether you would like the excess materials returned to you with the finished product or to honor it by recycling. If you honor by recycling please keep in mind that all parts of the material will be recycled and if you would like to keep any name tapes, patches, buttons etc. please remove them before sending in your material prep kit.

You will have the option of having excess materials returned to you. This will be documented on the order form completed on your design survey.  

The thread color used for your Heirloom will match as closely to color of materials as possible.  

Using your desired character feedback on your design survey, our team will do their very best to fulfill your preferences by combining your style with what we know to make the best handbags!

Note on Dopp kits – because the pattern is so big, pieces of uniform may need to be sewn together, resulting in a visible topstitch. The topstitch will be necessary to complete the full pattern piece required for the product – plus they add great character to your already one of a kind item!

R. Riveter’s Warranty will still cover stitching, zippers, snaps, and hardware. However, due to the nature of the Limited-Edition materials, we are unable to offer warranty repairs on the upcycled military materials portion of the handbag.  

Heirloom handbags highly customized and therefore are nonrefundable.  

R. Riveter’s Heirloom Pilot Program is open to the public, you do not need to be affiliated with the military.

We accept any service uniforms – including, but not limited to servicemembers, first responders, airline uniforms, etc.

As this is a very special collection there are few discounts that apply. We do have several bundle options that provide a discounted value when multiple items are ordered.
