Plantable seed paper — we believe you should be able to have your paper and plant it too. Throughout our line, we have incorporated seed paper in our packaging wherever possible. Our seed paper is made up of 100% non-invasive wildflower seeds and can be easily planted with just a few quick steps.
Plantable seed paper is a biodegradable eco-paper that is made with post-consumer materials (no trees harmed for this paper!) and embedded with seeds. When the paper is planted in a pot of soil, the seeds grow and the paper composts away. All that is left behind is flowers.
Seeds in Packaging:
What is Plantable Seed Paper? Plantable paper is special handmade paper embedded with wildflower seeds. When the paper is planted in a pot of soil, wildflowers will grow from the paper.
When is the best time to plant? Plant the paper outdoors early spring or late fall. Fall plantings will take advantage of the winter rains to give you early spring blooms. Plant anytime indoors, then transplant to a more permanent location in the early spring.
Can I mail my seed paper envelope? Yes — our handmade plantable seed paper envelopes hold up as well as machine-made envelopes.
Are your seeds non-invasive? We have worked hard identifying species that are non-invasive to all regions of the US and Canada. They include a hearty and diverse mix of annual and perennial wildflowers that will grow well across all growing regions.
What is the shelf life of your seed paper? Typically the germination rates start to decline after 3 or 4 years. This will also depend on how the paper is stored – keeping it in a cool, dry place will preserve the germination rates.
Legacy Publishing Group sprung into life back in 1993 to create a line of paper products that would be affordable yet beautiful and have since become a leader in the social expressions industry. All in all, we're just a couple twenty-somethings, with a few friends, who believe that the world is still filled with paper nerds like us. Nerds that think snail mail is best mail and that paper is here to stay.
