The Grant was named after Julia Boggs Dent Grant, wife of General Ulysses S. Grant. Mrs. Grant served as a military spouse, raising their children while her husband was often deployed. During the Civil War President Lincoln sent for Mrs. Grant to join her husband, aware of the positive effect she had on him. Mrs. Grant's presence lifted her husbands spirits and buoyed his confidence; she covered more than 10,000 miles in four years -- and nearly 4,000 in just the first year to be with her husband. As First Lady, Mrs. Grant served as an active participant in presidential matters. Mrs. Grant was a true leader of our time, and played a significant role in our country's history.
Maintenance of R. Riveter Leather:
We love using real veg tanned leather in our handbags because they just better with age. If you happen to get scratches or water marks, you can usually get the bag looking new again with just a little maintenance.

Canvas Care Suggestions:
When spot cleaning the canvas, we suggest using a brush or sponge with water only to wipe it off soiled area. We do not recommend using anything other than water as it could discolor canvas material.
