"What day is it? It's today," squeaked Piglet.
"My favorite day," said Pooh.

Make each day with your children their favorite day by keeping life fun and active in creative and innovative ways! It's those moments when you were moving... together, that will live in their little memories forever!
You've got to move it, move it! Though many of us (especially boys) will grow up to have a fear of dancing, as kids... dancing isn't just a fun and silly way to stay active, it's practically a way of little life! As necessary as it is to brush their teeth or pick up their toys, kids NEED to dance! Once a day, make it a habit to crank the music and have an impromptu dance party! It does't take much time, it's a great cardio workout for the whole family AND it's something your kids will look forward to every day!
If you're looking for a way to teach your children about fitness AND how to give back to the community, then charity fun runs is the way to go! No matter where you live, there is bound to be at least half a dozen charity fun runs within driving distance each year. Typically, your entry fees are donated to a special cause and participants come out to show their support in crazy and exciting ways!
The Color Run, for example, has raised over 4 million dollars for over 80 different charities since 2012 by plastering it's runners in color before they reach the finish line! (Hello, BEST family Christmas card picture... EVER!)
Gardening, in general, is a great way to keep the whole family active. But, we can't ignore that Fall has FINALLY arrived and with it comes gorgeous outdoor weather and beautiful color choices for our outdoor flowers!
A fall favorite for many are mums. Well... they're really called Chrysanthemums (try to get the kids to say THAT, three times fast!) but for the sake of blog space, we'll stick with "mums." They are available in gorgeous shades of red, yellow, orange and plum and are easy to plant! For tips on the best ways to prepare for, select and care for your family's mums, click here!
Remember family game night? Of course you do! Well, family game night doesn't always have to be positioned around a game board at the kitchen table. It can actually be a great way to incorporate movement and activity into your family's evening! A few active game night games include playing twister, making an obstacle course (click here for ideas) or playing beach volleyball in the living room (just be sure to take down the clock your mother-in-law got you for your wedding before you do... or don't... our lips are sealed!)
Come on! Make it a family tradition to celebrate special occassions with active family gatherings! Instead of a big (and greasy) dinner out for a birthday, pack a picnic basket and spend the day swimming at the lake OR instead of exchanging gifts on an anniversary, take the family hiking somewhere new. When your kids are grown, they probably won't remember that they got one video game for their 10th birthday instead of two... but the photos on the mantle from the time your family hiked to the top of Chimney Rock; that's something they won't forget. Ever.
