Happy National Play-Doh Day!

Admit it: When the play-doh comes out… it’s time to get creative! Age, location, gender and even profession become irrelevant; everyone loves some play-doh! It’s also a great way to interact with our children!

Play-doh time builds communication skills, strength in little fingers, fine motor skills, self-esteem, imagination and knowledge of counting. Best of all… play-doh time with the family is FUN!

R. Riveter American Handmade Play-Doh Recipe


  • Flour – 1 Cup
  • Cream of Tartar – 4 Tbs.
  • Cooking Oil – 2 Tbs.
  • Salt – 1 Cup
  • Hot Water – 2 Cup
  • Food Coloring of Choice


  1. Mix all dry ingredients together until well blended. 
  2. In a different bowl, stir all liquids together. 
  3. In the dry ingredients, make a well + add the hot liquid. 
  4. Stir slowly until it forms together into a thick dough. 
  5. Use extra flour if too sticky. 
  6. Add food coloring.


Add essential oils for scent.
